UPDATE: Price dropped to $4990

(08/03/2012) “A rare vehicle. First year the civilian jeep was made with less than 150 miles since overhaul of engine, transmission, and transfer case. Less than 100 miles on a new overdrive. Included but not installed is a system to operate engine by creating gas from burning wood chips (producer gas generator). Seats in great condition, new tires, pretty clean considering its age. Make offer, motivated seller. Runs great.”

This jeep appears to have the same model of hub as the picture below which I found in 2010. Anyone know what it is?

The hubs look like they could be Selectro based with a different outside cast that you are normally used to seeing.
Im curious what this wood burning contraption is about.

There were systems used like this in europe to power vehicles during world war II when gasoline became scarce. Maybe this was an option system for the jeep early on??? I am really curious about it, too.

My guess is Sears Selectro and they replaced the cap by some thing else.

There so many cie who made hubs; Warn, rugged ridge, dualmatic, spicer, avm, mm, cutlas, superwinch, mile marker…

I think the one in the original post is a Select o-matic branded Sears – Sears sold several models. The link (comment above) is altogether different – that is Dualomatic with 2 levers. I had that one on a CJ5.

I wonder why it hasn’t sold yet. Too firm on price? …or some other issue. Anyone out there looked at it in person?

I don’t think it’s a 1945 or even a 46. If you look at the other photos there are no tool indents, it does not have the three data plate dash, the marker lights are wrong, no full floater rear end, etc.

Hello all, if you search GASIFICATION UNIT or DEVICE youll find info on the wood burner. Dont think theres any chance of an O.E. Unit as it was typically a DIY kinda thing in the european countrys…. Or so ive reserched as its an interesting concept in a prepper kind of way. Eric

I just realized that this jeep has been for sale for almost 1 1/2 years. I don’t think a guy could redo one for that price – engine, trans, transfercase, overdrive, body and paint, seats and tires?

I believe the hubs are from sears I purchased a jeep and from the pic they look to be the same.
