No drain hole by the step, so this area has likely been patched.

I bought this one after the original bidder failed to follow through with the purchase. I’m no expert, but I think the reason there are no drain holes might be because it is an older replacement tub.(no rim in the tool box area and some other subtle differences).
I see some other 2A’s and 3A’s listed without drain holes and wonder if they came from some company that was manufacturing tubs way back in the 70’s or 80’s. How long has MD Juan been the only player in town? There had to be other companies making steel tubs at some point.
Regardless, I have an original CJ3A tub that I will swap this one out with once the work is complete… even though this one is a solid and (mostly) accurate tub.

Based on everything I see there, the tub looks original. However, there does appear to have been something done along the passenger side near the bottom edge. The edge should run even as it turns the corner from the step to the rear wheel well. Instead, it looks like it juts up at the angle, then maintains a level edge to the rear.
Another reason I suspect this is the original tub is because many of the other parts look original.
The MD Juan tubs usually had elements of the M-38, so they didn’t look like a stock 2A or 3A tub. Few if any of the fiberglass tubs had drain holes, so that just adds to the confusion sometime. I have yet to run across a company that made metal tubs without drain holes. If there was a company, I suspect they didn’t make many of them. One of my pet projects is identifying companies that made alternative tubs. I have found multiple fiberglass tub companies, aluminum and stainless. Only MD Juan and Willys-Overland (the new company) make metal tubs imported into the US. That said, I never say never when it comes to Willys. If you can identify anything unusual about the tub, let me know!!
What you might try doing is running a magnet in the area where the drain hole should be. It if is filler, it will have a hard time sticking.
