Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Looks like it is a Surrey Gala to me judging by the bumper and filler panel. Also has footman loops on the front fenders, grab handles on the windshield frame.
Brian .. yep, you are right about those details. So, I wonder if the year is wrong .. hmmm. Maybe it’s on a ’56 CJ-3B or CJ-5 frame/running gear.
My guess is that it is a DJ3A, possibly Surrey, on a 3A, 3B or CJ5 chassis. It has a later speedometer with the numbers having a zero behind them, and turn signal indicators in the cluster. I sent the guy an email with a copy to you and Glenn, Dave.
Could have been pieced together from other Jeeps years ago.
