This came out of a museum? Maybe it was used at a museum rather than shown in one? Those headlights are one-of-a-kind.

Definitely a frankenjeep. Looks like either a 2A or 3A with an M38 windshield, MB (modified) grill, 12 volt alternator, missing air cleaner, later model seats, steering wheel does not appear to be 2a, 3a or MB, rubber fender flares, lockout hubs. What is the box under the passenger floor? And what are those sideways hood latches all about? Is there a museum of military frankenjeeps?
DC,the sideways latches are not hood latches,they are for holding the windshield, when folded down, on the hood.There were two small brackets on the top edge of the windshield that they latch to.That is of course the original WW2 windshield I am talking about not the M38 one that this jeep has.Agree with your other observations,especially that box underneath the passenger side,also that funky radio antenna on the cowl.Notice that it has a T90 transmission by the raised housing on the gear shift tunnel.I am restoring a 1943 MB that though rusty is a lot more original than this Frankenjeep.
