Nice one indeed. If you click on the link below, you’ll notice that this Jeep has round toolbox indents:

If this is a 1942 GPW, it should have rectangular toolbox indents. All MBs used bodies with round indents. But late in 1944 and through the end of the war, both Ford and Willys started using the same body with round indents.
Great observation!
Here’s a good example of what it should look like from Rens Jeeps: http://www.rensjeep.com/resto4/l_toolbox_area.jpeg
“Ford made their own tubs up to mid 1943, then they used Willys Type 1 tubs for a short time befor going on to using the ACM (American Central Manufacturing) Type 2 tubs.”

Hi George,
I haven’t seen this listed on Craigslist in a while. I suspect it sold. I’ve updated the post.

I wouldn’t say quite museum quality. Several things wrong for a 42. GPW did not switch to metal spoke steering wheel until mid Feb. of 43, should have push-pull light switch, no metal piece in the radiator hose, wrong fuel pump, should have long needle speedometer, should have 3 bolt spare carrier without bottom support, has wrong horn. I wouldn’t give it an 8.9. Still a nice jeep though.
Forgot to mention the engine is the wrong color. I’ll get off my soapbox now.
