UPDATE: I suggested that the Surrey owner hadn’t gone full out with the Pepsi theme, as the racer below had. Lester correctly points out that the Surrey represents an older color scheme (which was before my time). If you look through these images, you’ll see the Surrey has the earlier, full color scheme of light blue, red, yellow and white colors. Thanks Lester!
I’m sure the pepsi folks wouldn’t want to be left out, so here are 2 different pepsi jeeps.
You state the surrey owner did not go all out with the Pepsi theme like the racer actually he did.I remember Pepsi Bottle coolers when I was a kid in the Sixties in this color scheme of red, pale blue and white. If you study the surrey closely you will see the pale blue on the hood top, windshield and surrey support posts.A friend of mine ,who sadly passed away four years ago, worked over 30 years for the Pepsi distributor in our town. His widow still has his Pepsi collection in a room of her basement. He had several books on collecting Pepsi items.Like Jeeps ,over the years Pepsi logos and lettering changed several times. The surrey like I said is true to the time period it portrays as is the race machine but the racer represents a different era.Just my two cents.
Lester, your 2 cents are worth a pound of education. I did a quick search on ‘1960 Pepsi’ images and sure enough your absolutely right. Since I was born in 1965, I wasn’t old enough to appreciate the older coloring and focused too much on the size of the logo. I appreciate the correction!
