UPDATE: On further review, I have a number of issues with this jeep, given the price. See comments.
It’s an auction of sorts.
“very rare!!!! slate grill 1 0f 2 know to exist.in arizona.must sell due to illnes.highest bider will take.must be over 20.000$ made one month before pearl harbor.one of the first 900 made.serious offers onley need to call thank you.623 217 0188”
You’d think the slate on the grille would break if you hit something…what’s up with those rims?
Yeah, I thought the same thing. A strange choice for a $20k+ price demand.
Is that the proper rear diff? I thought it should be a full floating unit
You are right. I didn’t take this jeep too seriously because of the price, but I’ve had a funny feeling about it — the it-is-a-scam feeling.
It is missing a gauge, it has the wrong steering wheel, it has the wrong dash plate, the front shackle is mounted wrong, it is missing seats …. something’s not right.
Even the front tires are different sizes!
oh wait .. there are 3 dash plates. My bad.
…..oil canister misplaced, air filter incorrect, and are the seats optional?
WOW..you guys were pretty tough on this one. If this is in fact a fall (Nov/Dec) 1941 Slat Grill (And the serial number on the dash plate or the front frame will tell) if restored this jeep is worth every penny of $20K. In its present condition I’d value it at $4-6K.
I’ve started with worse than this and brought them back to original granduer. Also, Steering wheel looks correct to me..slatties and most early MB’s had full black sheller steering wheels..the shortages of materials (which caused the steerring wheel to change and have bare steel spokes) didn’t happen until well into 1942.
You are correct Steve; there is some value, but not $20k +
It’s the fact this guy wants 20 grand for what’s there that gets me. I agree that in pristine condition, and restored to original specs it would be worth it. This vehicle is FAR from that.
