UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
(11/14/2010) Based on the grille, this seems more likely to be a mid to later CJ-2A rather than a 1946. The body appears in good shape.
“Up for auction is a 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. 1946 is the first year that civilian Jeeps where built. The Jeep is complete other that missing a windshield. Several pictures have been taken to show the condition. It has solid body and frame. The body does not have rust or Bondo (It has surface rust only). It does have a new gas tank. I have never started the jeep but it will turn over by hand. The radiator and engine are full of antifreeze. This jeep does have a clear title. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. This jeep is pick up only and is located in Alton, Il 62002.”
What’s the photo that says “Craftsman Co.?”
The only idea that came to mind was a Sears & Roebuck Top made by Craftsman? But, I don’t see the top in any other pics ….
I read somewhere that early on, someone else made bodies for Willys, maybe this is one of them.
