The front frame rails and spring hangers sure look like its built on an FC150 wide track chassis. Sure was a lot of work to add a CJ body to an FC chassis. Would probably have more value as an equally clean FC150 rather than a widened CJ5. Looks like nice work though.

It seems I breezed through that ad too quickly. I didn’t look closely enough to notice the springs (shame, shame, shame). I agree with your observations.

Actually, if you look closely at the front frame rails where they rise up to the bumper you can see they rise up much higher and further than a stock CJ5 frame does in the same area in front of the front spring hangers to meet the stock CJ5 bumper. (compare picture to an early CJ front bumper mounting)
Many people comment that the FC150 and early CJ frames are the same, especially the narrow track FC 150 and the FC150 wide track, I believe, is the same frame as the narrow track with the upgrade of outboard spring hangers.
But with the CJ5 body on this frame in the second picture it really shows how much longer and higher the frame rails rise up in an FC150 than in a CJ and show how very different the two frames really are in this area.
Thanks Will. I don’t think I’ve ever had the chance to see a 1/4 ton frame to an FC frame next to one another so I could compare them. I guess I need to do that at some point.

Hi Dave: I think if you had an FC150 frame next to an early CJ frame they would look pretty much the same (except for the wide track spring hangers if so equipped). The big difference is right at the front between the front spring hanger and the front bumper mounting. Compare the second picture above to many of the early CJ pictures on your site that show the nose and bumper mounting, the CJ front rails are straight and the rise up very little to the bumper, no need to have two bare frames side by side to see the difference. If you have an early CJ and FC150 service manuals, the frame section will show the difference as well.
