Looks like a very nice original body. I wonder why it was taken off and what happened to the drive train. I wonder if it was taken apart early on when the jeep had little value for some sort of custom project. Maybe it was taken off to restore the jeep and the drive train was stolen.

I does not have the holes for the air cleaner brackets, slave cable brackets or fording hose bracket, and other holes are missing.

Chuck, maybe it is a repro body after all? That would explain the good condition.

I do not see the four holes for where the Patent plate would be installed. Those holes should be there.

I’ve worked with quite a few MD Juan repro. bodies and this looks like one. I think the red oxide primer showing through and the lousy paint spray job on underside suggest its an MD Juan. Also, missing holes are dead give away. The MD Juan M38’s also sometimes have wrong holes drilled where dash panel connects and the Deutz fasteners go into the dash and this one looks like those holes are wrong. I’ve notice that the fire extinguisher brackets on MD Juan’s M38s are not drilled or tapped for screws and this one looks just like that.

All that said, this is a steel for $3,000 – easily $4,000 plus worth of stuff offered for sale. Wish I lived closer – would buy it in a second.
