This October 21, 1969, article from the Daily News-Post (Monrovia, California) included some great photos. It’s quite a spread! The review of the unit was very positive, almost a little too positive.

Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
There are plenty of interesting, unusual, historic and surprising stories related to Jeeps and their owners. In addition, some of these features have nothing to do with jeeps. This link will display all featured stories starting from the latest.
Looking for parts and not sure where to go? There are a variety of large and small new and used parts sellers both online and offline.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

Dave, according to that article the Jeep Camper proved to be FANTASIC! It must be true because the writer actually tested that setup.
Steve, lol … I can’t argue with logic like that!
I have the prototype it’s self of thecj5 camper the vary first one ever made
Hi Lester,
That’s great! What kind of condition is it in? Could you send me some pics to d@deilers.com?
Thanks,

Wasn’t there one posted here that was for sale awhile back?
Yes, this one: http://www.ewillys.com/2023/12/18/1970-cj-5-camper-model-allentown-pa-3850/

There is this one too.

in doing a brief internet search, there seem to be a few out there.
One guy has the basic chassis for one for sale…it would be a neat DIY project to build one with modern. RV materials and construction techniques.
Of course if you do that, you might as well rest-o-mod the Jeep to make it a bit more user (and freeway) friendly.
Or if a guy can’t live without a touch screen and AC, make one that would fit a current Wrangler two door.
John,
OH yeah, forgot about that one. I’ve updated the post as it must have sold. Thanks for pointing it out.
It would be an interesting project. As it is, we need to buy a motorhome anyway so we can tow the race jeep to the races. I don’t really want to put much money into purchasing one, as it will mostly sit anyway. A good, clean used one will work just fine.

The recent popularity of smaller trailers…namely the “teardrops” as well as that goofy looking small Airstream (which looks like a horse trailer to me), makes me think a modern version of a Jeep Camper, either a
– restored original,
– resto-mod of an original,
-or all new and towed by a late model JK or JL,
any would be a winner.
if I had any fabrication talent, or the money to hire it done, I’d do it.
At any rate, if you do a Jeep Camper for your travels, it would be a real calling card for ewillys.
Yes, I’m great at spending other people’s money and time. 🙂
Now realistically, it is tough to find an B class (van size) RV that can tow much, but your Jeep is small enough so it is possible.
C class (Van cab with big box on back) and big A class motor homes can tow, but your gas mileage tumbles.
Another possibility is a diesel 3/4 ton pickup towing a toy hauler with living space in the front and room for the Jeep in back. Then at least you can use the pickup for other stuff and you don’t have a motor vehicle sitting around most of the time.
John,
I appreciate the ideas!
I def don’t want another project right now. I’ve also traveled up and down and across the US enough times that I wouldn’t want to do that in a jeep camper.
The B-Class isn’t practical. The jeep will be on a tilt trailer, so we are towing about 7K or more (trailer + race jeep or fc jeep). Gas mileage isn’t that much of an issue. We don’t plan to take it cross country at this point. Our longest drive would be about four hours or about three hundred miles, hence why I’m less worried about buying used.
We have a dually truck capable of pulling just about anything, so a toy hauler is possible, but most toy haulers do not seem capable of carrying the weight of a race jeep. Moreover, the living quarters of the toy haulers I have seen online haven’t impressed me much.
We thought about putting a camper on our truck, but a) a good camper is still spendy, b) it would be difficult for Ann to scramble up to the sleeping area, and c) a camper wouldn’t work if we wanted to bring our two small dogs.
That’s why I keep coming back around to a class A, a gently used older class A.
