UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
Given the Meyer hardtop, the Warn overdrive, and the winch, I’d say this might make a good little package for the price.
“Lots of extras: Warn overdrive, Warn winch, roll bar, tow bar, new front seats, original rear seat, metal top with doors, bikini top, rebuilt starter and alternator.
Engine was replaced by a previous owner, it is an odd-fire V6, 1987 Buick with electronic ignition.”
That does seem like a great/reasonable price! And I like the name, “Rusticon”… clever 😉
too close to area 52 , could be contaminated with nerve agents ?
Vernon, Area 52 is not all that close to Tooele, Utah, but it is close to Tonapah, Nevada, and the clown motel, which is an too creepy reason to stay away from Area 52 AND the Tonapah. https://www.wired.com/2007/11/area-52-the-oth/
i thought area 52 was in utah ? the dugway proving grounds ? tooele is northeast of dugway , south of the great salt lake — wikipedia says area 52 is either tonopah or the dugway proving ground ( where they keep all the nerve gas and alien bodies ) .. that brings me to my BYU coed story …
I briefly looked at wikipedia, which is where I saw it mentioning Tonapah (again, don’t underestimate the creepiness of the Clown Motel in Tonapah; it may be Area 54!). I figured you were referring to Dugway Proving Grounds, but I’ve never heard it called Area 52 (but then I never hung out with nerve gas experts or interstellar aliens while living in Salt Lake).
I wanna hear the coed story . . .
the secret JANET airline flys 737’s into and out of the tonopah base every day — some trips are to and from groom lake ( area 51 ) mostly to mc carran airport in las vegas — i have heard that utah is the new area 51 for years , trying to take the heat off groom lake — that land around dugway used to be an army airfield in ww2 ? michaels air base ? — its top secret like area 51 — speaking of the clown motel , theres a woman on youtube i follow sometimes named WONDERHUSSY , shes really sharp , based in las vegas , she has videos of the clown motel , the history , how creepy it is , i think its under new ownership , some indian fellow ?
FYI: I’m sure it’s a good one, but I won’t be approving any coed story, as this isn’t the place for it.
Hello just thought I’d share this story. In 1992 my Grandfather brought home a bunch of parts. With the resemblance of a CJ5. I was in love at first sight.Turns out a guy owed him money but couldn’t pay. So instead gave my Grandfather all the parts. My Grandpa noticed the interest I had and gave me an offer. If I help him put it back together and get good grades, I could have it when I turned 16. I was 12 at the time. So over the next few years we spent a few hours here and there and got it on the road again. I drove it for the next few years but eventually moved to DallAs for college. This was the year 2000. I then got a call from my Mom stating my Grandpa was retiring. She was his accountant and began to tell me he needed the money and a man wanted it badly. She told me he would not sell it because it was ours not his. After a lot of back and forth with my Mom I decided to tell my Grandpa to go ahead and sell it. He reluctantly did so. This was 2002. Well I have regretted it ever since. For the next almost 20 years I kept my eye out for it. Well to keep this story shorter than it already is long I came across an AD. I kept staring at it and just knew this was it. My wife didn’t think it was possible. I then called the seller and met with him. I immediately knew it was my Jeep. This very Jeep you see here!! I was flooded with emotion. All the memories I had with Grandpa flooded my brain. The seller was more than generous and sold it back to me. Such a good man by the way!! I’m now 40 with a 3 year old son. I can’t wait to bring this Jeep back to her glory. I have a photo I can share of the last day I saw it compared to the Rusticon you see here today. And no I promise it is not contaminated.
Hi Alex,
Thanks so much for sharing that story! I’m very happy to hear you managed to find it. I’ve still yet to locate a jeep I built back in 1984/85.
Do you have any early pre-sale pics of the jeep? I think your story would make a good post for folks (and give them some hope that they might find that jeep they sold).
Feel free to email me at d@deilers.com.
Thanks,
– Dave
Hey Dave. I sent you a couple pics of when my Grandpa and I had it last. I’m still looking for more pics but with the digital age I’m having a hard time finding any.
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Alex,
I did receive them and thought I’d sent you a response. My time has been consumed with our move to the new house, so I apologize if somehow I didn’t send you an email. I should be able to start catching up with things next week. So, I haven’t forgotten!
