“Our research indicates that this Willys Jeep CJV35/U is one of only 1000 produced and one of perhaps 100 in existence. In 1950, the U.S. Navy contracted the construction of 1000 Jeeps with deep water fording capability and special radio equipment for forward observation duties. Serial numbers ran from 10001 to 11000, making our number 10794 a late production example. The previous owner related that it had been used as a hunting vehicle on his ranch. As such, many original parts are missing, but many remain (hood, excellent headlight bezels, tailgate, etc.). All Naval identification plaques are also present. We recently installed a battery and fuel tank (tank was not original) to get it running, but there are NO BRAKES, making this an ideal project or parts Jeep to be sold AS IS.”
This Jeep was on Ebay as well. I messaged the seller that the original fuel tank should be included if it was not discarded. The Radio ID plate is very interesting and matches the ID plate on of one of the Netherlands V-35’s that is in the Marine Museum in Rotterdam. That Radio ID plate would indicate a FM radio set probably an SCR 528 was installed in that jeep. Nice to see another one found. Hope it goes to a good home and gets preserved/restored. A V-35 is a touch restoration but very rewarding.

I was wondering why this jeep engine had a smooth cylinder head, then I noticed the 2 bolt thermostat housing. I think this is a Willys Americar engine. Cylinder head number appears to be 627014.
For some reason I’ve been having terrible luck hunting for head casting numbers the last couple of days. I’m not sure what’s up with that.

It looks to me like the carb is 90 degrees off. Maybe an industrial engine.
