This looked in such good shape that I assumed it would be repowered. But nope, it’s still got an f-head.

“1951 WILLYS OVERLAND WAGON Model 6-73. Four Cylinder F Head engine, 3 speed column manual transmission with overdrive. This wagon is in exceptional condition for it’s age. It has been repainted at some point but shows great patina. Upholstery has been redone and is in excellent condition as is the glass and chrome. All gauges work including horn, radio and wipers. Has a Willys AC unit but not operational. New brakes, fuel pump, battery and tires. Runs and drives well like an old wagon. Clean California title,”
The Craigslist posting shows a third row seat mounted sideways in the back. Would this be a factory option? I’ve had several of these wagons but none had a rear seat.
Is anyone familiar with the Willys add-on air conditioner? I’ve never seen one of these either.
The 46-49 Willys wagons had an optional mother in law seat in the rear area, like this one shows, withe the latching brackets in the floor. This wagon has several trim items attached to the body that are 46-49 early 50. The tail gate has Willys Overland script on it, the sides of the hood have “Jeep Station Wagon script as well as the smaller script on the glove box door. As for the Willys AC unit, I don’t see any identifying Willys script to make one believe it is a factory unit, but an add on by an aftermarket company which were popular in the late 50s and mid 60s. Studebaker used a similar looking unit in their 1960s cars.
