Newgren and Stockland Brochures for the Terracing Blade

To me, it looks like the Newgren terracing blade became the ‘Jeep’ terracing blade (with a minor modification .. angled piece added to the top for strength), which then became the Stockland terracing blade. Thoughts?

In answer to your observation, and resulting question, on the Stockland Blade: “To me, it looks like the Newgren terracing blade became the ‘Jeep’ terracing blade (with a minor modification .. angled piece added to the top for strength), which then became the Stockland terracing blade. Thoughts?

Stockland was the supplier to Newgren of blades, scoops, and graders of their own design. These same implements were initially advertised for Ford N-Series tractors with the Ferguson System (3-point lift) and could be used by virtually any other make of tractor, from the same time period, with adapters where needed (all under the Stockland name and/or as rebranded with other tractor manufacturers names). All of these parts were advertised as being of the “Newgren” brand in the Newgren and Willys literature during the time that Newgren was in business. They may even be found with the Newgren data plate attached, in place of, or even in addition to, the Stockland data plate.

Improvements to the designs of the implements were applied along the way such as the angled piece that you mentioned. Later Stockland blades even had built-in side-to-side adjustability so that the blade could be offset substantially from the center line of the tractor or Jeep.

After Newgren went out of business, Willys started marketing the Stockland implements under the ‘Jeep’ brand. Shortly, they started marketing them under their manufacturer’s name – Stockland.

The same scenario happened with implements that other companies supplied to Newgren for use with the Jeep.

    Clint,

Thanks so much for those wonderful insights. As I mentioned to Barry Thomas recently, I’m out of my depth on the farm equipment, so I welcome any input or correction.
