UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.
Seller lists the price at “$3”. It could be a place holder or could be $3k. This is a mid-1964 model DJ-3A that looks pretty solid.
“1964 willy’s 2wd flat fender. I also have for sale a 1990 corvette suspension front and rear, engine and transmission for $1,500. I was gonna do a rat rod with the two cars but I have no time to work on the project”
This DJ3A showed up in 2015 on eWillys. Here is more information about it that I recorded back then.
8202 24405 Aug. 1964 build date, has body style ZY64CTR, a soft top, Volvo 1800cc engine and 4 speed trans. , side inlet heater, kept inside since nearly new, owned by Walt at Fairfield, near Sacramento, CA, now for sale, 7-15-15. Will try to get more photos for list and further info from Walt Mikolajcik. Email: Walt.Mikolajcik@solano.edu
Word from Walt 11-21-15, advising he has learned more about his Jeep: You contacted me about my 1964 DJ some time ago and I have since learned some interesting things about it that you may, or may not know about. Turns out the body was a special order Pizza Delivery in 1964 the tub in the back was factory widened one inch on each side by going into the wheel well. I got an interesting e-mail from a person in Tulsa OK that has one 5 numbers away from mine and in 1964 he and his cousin bought two from a dealership that had purchased 20 of them from a Pizza Company in Maryland all special ordered , they had a large pizza warmer in the back that went all the way to a cloth white top and a propane tank where the passengers seat here is the e-mail I got with the Jeep factory model number…remember I told you I had a strange model number on the CA DMV tag. Also Steve Windsor at the Willys Works told me he bought a DJ with the box just like mine some 20 years ago in Tucson from Continental Airlines that was used at the airport for baggage transport. I think it is interesting that mine was purchased new in CA in 1964 and used for Pizza Delivery in SF and it is only 5 numbers away from the 20 that were in Maryland all were one of a kind factory models have you run into this model before? I have the same pizza delivery jeep… 1964 serial number 24244. Bought it in Iowa last year. My understanding is that it was always in Iowa since new but don’t have any documented proof… just an old timers recollection. I have the original white top but I do not have the box or propane tank. Does anyone have pics of the warmer and propane tank? I would like to recreate those items.
Thanks as always Colin!
Joe: The only pizza pic I have is this: http://www.ewillys.com/2019/03/06/dj-3a-dispatcher-pizza-jeeps/
There are at least two patents from that time period related to pizzas, but neither mentioned propane:

I will keep a watch out for that info.
