Tomorrow is the Moonshiner’s Swap Meet at the Puyallup Fair Grounds in Puyallup, Washington.

TJ is there today (Saturday .. vendors get in early) and spotted what I believe to be Jim’s restored (by Willys America I think) Traveller. It’s a beaut! It looks to be located in the main hall, so if you are there, be sure to check it out.

that TRAVELER is the pinnacle of WILLYS-WAGON-DOM !! the ultimate , great , stupendous , marvelous , expensive and other TRUMP-STYLE-SUPERLATIVES !! .. a couple of issues , that stuff on the dash , the ride height looks excessive and no tornado 230 had a polished ohc cam cover . I have a n.o.s. tornado cam cover hanging on my wall here , un-polished , no traveler to install it on .

Dad rolled one of these circa 1958 just before I was born. His back was crushed, and I always heard the story from my sister, who would hold up the picture of the rolled Jeep, then say it was my fault Dad got hurt, just because Mom was pregnant with me. I laugh now, wondering why I love Jeeps so much. The wagons are just so cool!. The wood slats in the floor remind me of a Kaiser Traveler. What a timeless vehicle.

Also, the “stuff on the dash” is the switch and labels for the second tank, to have the gauge switch over. The actual lever is down in the door next to the VIN plate. You need to move both.

  4. Jim K Mueller

That stuff on the dash is for the rare spare factory tank. Not to many of those around.
Thanks for all the nice comments.

Jim – I have a ’63 Traveler with 230, trying to locate a fuel pump or a fuel pump re-build kit. Any ideas? Thanks. Dreaming of mine coming near your standards, but have a long way to go. Thanks.

    Dan Krutina,

Feel free to email me directly: scramboleer at yahoo dot com.

    Cheers,

Thanks Dan B. Since I posted my first comment, I also found “Willys America” in CA. And have already sent mine off to them for the rebuild. It is good to know there are others out there running into the ‘lack of’ 230 parts. I have a long way to go on mine. I’ll keep you and Gould’s in my ‘Roll-a-Dex’ Dan
