UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
Two curiosities about this CJ-6. One, it appears there is a lien on the title. Two, this appears to have the original cover plate where the transfer case levers should be located. It makes me wonder if this was originally a DJ-6. The serial number ought to reveal that.
“1966 Jeep CJ-6, comes with removable Meyer steel half cab hard top, a period correct aftermarket top that makes the CJ-6 into a little pickup. The doors have rolling tempered window glass, and are complete, I believe one hinge needs to be sourced but the setup is otherwise complete.
Vehicle is a complete barn find – correct first year Dauntless crossfire V6, three speed manual, separate transfer case. Rare 60/40 bench option.
Not currently running, what you see is what you get – a fun, simple, rare old project jeep.”
Good eye Dave. I believe, This is a flipper, it was for sale at a different location in Cali at 1/2 the price a few days ago.
lol … sometimes I get things right (and least I think it is right). I found the earlier ad, thanks!

excuse me but this looks like a legitimate 1966 cj-6 v-6 4wd – I have a 1967 cj-6 v-6 4wd and everything in these photos match up . 1966 was the 1st years for the v-6 and if you got it , you got a single lever t-case shifter ( of course I modified my gear boxes to the 2 lever t-case and added a warn od for 4 shift levers ) you can also see the shift pattern sticker in the correct place behind the steering wheel on the dash , it has the correct t-86aa , dana 18 single lever shift patterns . I don’t see a t-case shifter in the photos ? and he says it has a separate t-case ? odd ? maybe no t-case underneath ? in 50 + years of jeep collecting , work , restoring , I’ve seen it all , so what else is new ?
Maybe “separate transfer case” means “in a box in the garage”.
Blaine, I agree with your analysis, but pushing it farther, I interpret it as someone was transforming this into 4WD and hadn’t figured out how to install the transfercase yet.
SEEJAY,
I could well be a 4WD (or maybe the body is DJ-6 and the chassis CJ-6). However, it just seems to me that it would be highly unlikely for the seller to have exact, correct cover plate for the transfer case hole.
I’d like to see the serial number for it.

The only non flat fender jeeps that I would buy, a CJ6. Although most jeepers prefer the CJ5 over the 6 but the 6 with the metal halfcab just sits right, and only with half cabs. Otherwise flatfenders all the way.
