Just a question, I notice this wagon has the typical cartage oil filter. My 1962 wagon with the 226 engine has a more modern spin on type oil filter. Was this an option on the later model years? All my previous wagons had the cartage type. Also, I thought the one piece glass tailgate window was introduced with the 1961 model year, along with the one piece windshield and became standard on 4 wheel drive models in 61. Not that it matters, still a beautiful wagon. Just curious to know the factual information.
Mike,
That’s a good question. Willys America offers a spin-on oil filter conversion base: http://shop.willysamerica.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=24755 … my guess is that this indicates it wasn’t standard on any of the L-head or f-head engines. Otherwise I think the listing would indicate it was standard or an option on the 226. But, that’s just a guess….
