Some of the folks from Alaska Or Rust got together last weekend for a trip into the Blue Ridge Mountains via Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park, Rockytop Overlook, Blue Ridge Parkway, and a few other places (I don’t have a map of their exact route). If you have Facebook, you can view all the pics Bill Reiss took here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156047526007987&set=a.10156047528832987&type=3&theater

Looks like a nice outing. My favorite park.
Skyline drive has lots of side trails.
What we used to do in the 70’s with the 59 cj3b was pull up to a wooden post holding the chain that blocked the trail and give it a couple bumps with the Jeep. Loosten post drive onto trail and put post back up.
cj5 has Kubota conversion I believe…love to know how it turned out and if it would be done again, as I have a t98 in my cj6 with bad f head!
David,
Yes it does have the Kubota conversion. Bill loves it and would do it again. Andreas (who went on the Alaska Or Rust trip with Bill and I) also has the conversion, but in a pickup. He too loves it. The power was very impressive and, despite the fact that very little testing was done on either engine, both ran perfectly. I would consider running one as well, as they are pretty quiet, yet powerful.
