Jeeps @ the Southern Museum of Flight

GMWillys and his lovely wife visited the Birmingham Alabama’s Southern Museum of Flight the other day and took some photos for us. He notes that the museum is fairly impressive, given the relatively small space. And, the jeep count is at three: an M-38, an M-38A1, and a CJ-V35. See the pics below.

Interesting, that plaque with the CJv35 has a picture of one of my Jeeps on it. The lower left with the summer top. Is from a photo shoot done of my Jeep for JP magazine. That V35 is very interesting in the photo. Thanks for Sharing.

I spoke with a volunteer there that was working on a B-25 vertical stabilizer for a new addition to their museum, and he stated that that they have 102 aircraft in their inventory. The B-25 was acquired from the defunct Chanute AFB museum in Ill. They are currently in the process of breaking ground on a new larger site for their museum, very close to the Barber Motor Sports complex, (which in itself is a very worth while museum to go to). When that happens, it would be an entire weekends worth of history to look through.

    Mike,

I’m a little surprised that the museum would use the photo with out at least some attribution. It took me all of 5 seconds to find your image on the Four Wheeler article that mentions your name. This is something a museum staff member should have done, too. It is pretty neat that you have the ‘gold standard’ CJ-V35/U! I sure haven’t seen any pics of my jeeps in any museum (yet)!

Looks like just about everything on that plaque came from the internet. There is some of my stuff there too. Anyone know the serial number of this V-35?
