UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4200
(11/28/2017) Craig shared this one. The Koenig hardtop looks in fine shape. It has been converted to 4WD.
“Willys Jeep DJ-2a with unique hardtop with sliding doors. Converted to 4wd at some point in the past. 4 cylinder motor and 3 speed manual. This vehicle ran when parked but currently has wiring issues and will not start. Clean NC title in hand.”
Back in the 1960’s, (YES, I.m stuck in time) This was a popular conversion due to the low resale price of Jeep Dispatchers with hardtop. It was a cost effective way of replacing that rusted old body on early CJ2A & 3A Jeeps. A neighbor up the street from me did this in his front yard. Nobody complained, those were the days ! If I ever make a movie, it will be titled “Back to the Future” part 3, I’ll use a Old Willys as my time machine. Getting crazier as I age, that could be a good or bad thing…
Another previously unknown DJ3A, which I have added to our database. I suspect the frame number will probably match the serial number plate. Easier to put the 4WD gear under the original frame than take the DJ body off and put it on the 4wd chassis in my opinion. The homebuilt rear bumper adds credence to my theory, since the original rear mounted gas tank is still there behind the newer bumper.
It has a well preserved rear licence plate holder too. Hard to find!
