“I’m selling my 1952 Willys M-38. This is the military version of the Willys CJ2A. This Jeep was an Air Force Ordinance Vehicle in the Korean War and according to the serial number saw service in country in Korea and made it back to the USA. It still has some vestiges of Air Force blue paint on the speedometer bezel and the rear axle. I am the 3rd civilian owner and I’ve owned it for about 10 years. It is mechanically sound and rust free. Everything works and it works very well. This is not a project Jeep. When I bought the Jeep it had the Buick V6 that is in it and it ran good but the wiring, brakes and paint were bad. I have totally upgraded this Jeep.
It has been rewired and all the gauges, lights, horn, signals all work. I put all new disc brakes in it and removed the through the floor pedals and installed swing pedals from a 1989 Jeep Cherokee, including the booster and the slave cylinder. This means it also has hydraulic clutch linkage. I removed the under the seat gas tank and installed a 1980’s polyethylene 15 gallon tank with a skid plate under the rear between the frame rails as in a CJ5. I built a cut out pocket in the left rear wheel well so the seat sits 4″ further back so it has good ergonomic comfort. It has a tilt steering column and steering box out of a 1968 Camaro.
The transmission is a T91 4 speed, the transfer case is a T-18 the front axle is a Dana 27 and the rear axle is a Dana 44. It has a Saturn overdrive so it can go 55 MPH with out the engine screaming at high RPM’s. It has new paint. It has a full roll cage. It has 2 tops, a tiger soft top with doors and a bikini top. It has a 6000 lb. Warn winch. It has Warn hubs on all four wheels and a tow bar so it can be towed like a trailer. It has Rancho Suspension. Compare this Jeep to others that are on the market and what is being asked for them. It’s priced to sell and ready to go. There isn’t a nicer Willys out there. The reason I’m selling it is I a have a lot of toys and travel a lot and I just don’t use it all that much. It’s a really fun little rig.”
