UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $7000.
(08/20/2017) “Jeep starts and runs well. Body is in good condition except for minor rust on driver’s door and lower front. Three speed transmission and transfer case work well. Very solid custom flat bed with stake pockets and rope hooks. Interior is good with original upholstery (no tears) and original headliner. Gas tank is clean. Locking hubs. All glass is good. Price is firm – no haggling.”
Neat!
From the accessory data tag next to the Willys serial number plate shown in pictures in the Craiglist ad, this FC-170 “Standard Cab” (no side quarter windows) was likely once an Ansul Dry Chemical Fire Truck.
From the CJ3B page:
“Ansul equipment was available for truck or trailer mounting as required by the customer, and the catalogue states that “Ansul fire trucks of many sizes and descriptions protect civil and military airports, oil fields, refineries, armed forces installations, and large industrial and chemical plants all over the world.” Their recommended platform however, was the Willys Jeep. The catalogue listing for the J2-340 package on the CJ-3B, specifies a 300-pound dry-chemical unit with two 50-ft. hoses, and two hand extinguishers.
“The illustration (referring to a 1961 Ansul catalog cover on the CJ3B page – Ed.) also shows a Jeep Forward Control FC-150 but the catalogue lists a 1000-pound T-1000-B dry-chemical unit as being normally mounted on the larger FC-170.”
Looks like the seller has recently updated the ad text to include mention of its fire truck history.
any contact with the seller? the ad is expired.
