Glenn’s selling his DJ-3A he named “Miss Willy”. Ann and I rode in it back in 2013, shortly before someone hit Glenn while driving it. Miss Willy was the 122nd one produced after our newest DJ-3A convertible “Paterson” (10366) and only 50 units before “Rusty” (10538). Like Paterson and Rusty, it too has the convertible body. Glenn’s hoping a DJ-3A lover will restore it.
“Miss Willy, a 2WD early production 2WD Jeep, was wrecked almost two years ago. Health issues have prevented me from rebuilding this California beauty. An almost perfect rust free body, nice floors and hat channels, a few scratches from flipping on its side, has frame, hood, windshield, fenders damage and probably some hidden problems. Brakes left 4 perfect skid marks in the wreck. Interior is usable and pretty. No Engine or Radiator included as I used them in another project. I shipped this from California awhile back so it’s an easy rebuild. Use your ideas and parts or I have a total of seven of these DJ3A’s to provide anything needed at extra cost. In my humble opinion, this is a fair price. Most of what needs to be repaired is not “GRUNT WORK’, basically replacement of parts that are readily available. A good investment for a “fixer upper” project. Using a cost=benefit=ratio analysis, doing the work yourself, (Yes, some of us still do that) it would be almost impossible to loose money on this project. This is from a guy with a NJ attitude.

OH, I have L-134 engines, two of them on the garage floor, and a bunch more in other DJ3A’s, all with one or more problems. Happy to sell cheap to get them out of the way. YES, I can bring it to The Great Willys Picnic, but only with a firm deal in hand. Learned a long time ago, empty trailers and hard cash are very scarce items at shows. I’ll have to get my wife—–, My cousin needs this—-, I’ll call you when that check in the mail arrives—–, AND you all Know the Rest of the Story.
Do you have pictures of the body taken before the last paint job?
No Sam, The body is a CA body and almost unhurt in the wreck.. There was some repair in the rear corners before I got it and I haven’t dug into what they did. I love CA cars to work on. If you haven’t been there, then you have a special experience in your future. Put a wrench on the bolts and they come right out. Us Easterners usually have to fight each bolt, not the case here. If you haven’t played with a Western Project, it’s a whole new experience.
BTW: Chris McKay out of Minnesota is selling some parts off of a convertible DJ-3A. He’s got a complete column shift, which would be perfect for converting this back ($275 shipped). He’s got a T-96. And, he’s got a few other DJ specific parts as well (the body was toast, but the rear license plate holder and the support brackets for the back mounted spare tire are now mine, which will be perfect for Rusty).
