UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $24,500.
This refurbished surrey doesn’t have all the original surrey-like trimmings, but it does have several Surrey indicators, such as the dry type air filter and the footman loops on the fenders.
“1959 Willy’s DJ3A Surrey/Gala, VIN# – 5633716515, Mileage – 14,680. My guess is that this is the lowest mileage Surrey/Gala in existence. The original owner ordered this Willy’s new directly from the factory. After a long ownership, he passed away and his widow sold the Surrey to her dear friend. It appears that this sale occurred in 1997.
Soon after, The 2nd owner had a cosmetic restoration done to the vehicle including new blue paint and what I believe was an aftermarket seat and top kit sold back then by JC Witney. I still have this top. I first saw this auto online and became very interested after confirming that it was a Surrey/Gala. I purchased it sight unseen, had it shipped to me, and started on its mechanical restoration. I have now owned it for almost 4 years, driving her a couple times a week and,of course, keeping it garaged.
I am very fortunate to live near a vintage Willy’s/Jeep technician that knows and loves these vehicles. The following was done. New leaf springs. New shocks. New wheel bearings. Brakes rebuilt including lines. Transmission flush and service. Drivetrain service. Clutch total rebuild. Engine flushed and tuned. Rebuilt water pump. Rebuilt fuel system. Rebuilt carburetor. New NOS wiring harness. New exhaust system. New battery and cables. New Coker tires. Powder coated seat frames (satin black). Recovered seats. Bumpers (not correct) polished. New mini soft top. Many additional minor items.
Summary: This Surrey was garage kept all its life and driven very little. The vehicle was originally Jade Tint Green (color visible under new paint) The vehicle is very original and very complete. It comes with a full Surrey top frame, 4 original hub caps and 4 spares (all correct), the old top with windshield straps, jack w/handle and bag. I also have a significant amount of historical documentation and personal research items for your review.”
Can you share pictures of the jack, handle and the bag please?

Jon,
I have been searching on how that bag looks like. Can you help me with better pictures of the bag or with the dimensions and fabric used.
Thanks again.
The original jack bag measures 16 in x 10 in with 4 in flap with three turn buckles. It is made on canvas. Thanks
Thanks Marc,
The fact that this surrey was painted is a good and bad thing. As it is not the original color, the paint job preserved the body. This body is flawless. The original paint is underneath. The seat frames are original and were repowedercoated professionally. I have all the original frame for the surrey top.
Thanks again.
Jon
Thanks Jon for the added information and details!
