Looks solid in the pics.
“I have for sale a vintage jeep Willys bed extension box. This box is in great condition for its age! The tailgate is on it backwards, but can be switched around. Dimensions of this box are: 39 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 28 inches long! Brackets are included for attaching to a Willys Jeep. This is still usable as it’s original intended purpose, or could be repurposed into 1 million different things! ”
I want it.. We actually threw one of these in a scrap mental bin thinking it wasn’t correct/ home made.. yeah, been kicking myself ever since. The rule I learned was never toss anything (from a vehicle) until you’ve done some research.
There’s just so much to learn!
We have one of these but it is missing the two supports. Anyone have an extra set or dimensions for making them? Thanks Don
Hi Don,
Will this info help?

It doesnt look too intimidating to make the lower supports. If I was going to do them I would put some pressure under the bed extender at the back edge with a jack first and then measure the required length of the supports. That way the added supports would be the first and primary load support rather than hanging the load on the tailgate body edges, which were just sheetmetal and not designed to support that kind of load. Good luck.
Great info guys! Looks like ours is the Newgren model with two angle iron supports. Going to use your suggestions and make our own. Thanks!
