1948 CJ-2A Englewood, Fl **Status Unknown**

UPDATE:  Last priced at $9500.

The Jeep looks nice enough, but let me remind potential buyers that 1. VE day was in May of 1945 and VJ day was in August of 1945; 2. 1948 comes after 1945 (umm .. this is self-evident, yes?); and 3., by the transitive mathematical property, this jeep, contrary to the seller’s claim, could not have played a role in WWII because it ended in 1945 and the jeep was produced in 1948.

This was used in WW2, but the engine has been replaced entirely, so its not just a lawn ornament. You can cruise town in this Willys. It is equipped with the canvas cover. Please contact me if you are interested. I’d love to show you the car or send you more pictures. Also, email me for more information on the vehicle; I’d be happy to answer your questions.”

So many people think because it was a flat-fendered Jeep that it was military. I always tell people that there were far more civilian flatties made than military.

Well, yes and no. The total wartime production was approximately 646,964 (mbs/gpws/bantams), which is greater than the total peace time production of flat fenders (cj2a/cj3a/cj3b/dj3a) which totals approximately 511,539. So, there were more wartime flatties produced.

However, as we have seen in the pics, so many were destroyed, thrashed, trashed and junked that the jeeps left from WWII were quite a bit less (20% or less???). I don’t have specifics on the Military’s obligation for destroying the WWII Jeep. Maybe someone else does?

So, I think it’s fair to say that there are far more civilian flatties in existence.
