UPDATE: **SOLD**
Neat project. Seller will likely lose some money on the sale. Thanks to Marty for finding it.
“1950 Jeep Willys Extended Cab Pickup Project
frame ready to go
$6300 invested in body work already
Price Includes:
frame, extended cab, bed, tailgate, 2 fenders, grill, hood, bumpers, doors, console and more
Project was begun by father who recently died from cancer. He had a dream and a vision for this automobile that no one else in the family has the energy or know-how to complete. Price is negotiable.”
That extension appears to be about as well designed and accomplished as would have been done in Toledo when new.
So tempting… Especially for someone tall.

Was the extended cab ever a factory option? 3-4 years ago, I came across a nice p/u with a cab like this one. Knowing less about these than I do now (not that I know a lot) I assumed it was an option. At the time, I wasn’t able to swing the deal due to a family emergency. Since then I’ve looked for a similar set up, this is the only other one I’ve seen.
It does look well done.
Gliii: I am not aware it was ever an option. I think these are all custom. However, we can never say never in the willys world. Sometimes the company was willing to to ducts orders.

Love to complete the old man’s vision. He was really doing it correctly like the factory would have (if the extended cab would have been made) with the panel insets that match the doors. Very well done. Best looking project I’ve seen in some time. And the bed – wow! Very solid!
Well, thanks to a great friend with a truck and trailer (and storage!), this is now our next family project…

AWESOME DAN! Good luck with the project!
Good job Dan! Im sure the original owner would be happy it went to an enthusiast who appreciates his vision and effort.
Thanks guys. Pretty exciting.
It’s no rush, but now I can start thinking about how to get it on the road again. On the outside and inside, I’d like it to look “stock” – so stock gauges, paint, 16″ steel wheels on near stock-sized tires, axles tucked in like stock, etc. It also will be a manual transmission. If it will be used to cruise around in – no long freeway trips or major off-roading.
The question in my head is: what engine/transmission and axles should it have? I see three options: 1. use the extra 230 OHC Tornado with D18/T90/overdrive sitting in the garage and the stock D27/D44 axles with front disc brakes and dual master upgrades, 2. a fuel-injected Chevy 4.3L V6, or 3. a fuel-injected Chevy LS 4.8L or 5.3L V8… options 2 and 3 could use modern axles (might have to narrow the front from a donor rig but i think a 10/12 bolt as well as a Ford 8.8/9″ fits in the rear).
Thoughts? I’ll ask the folks on OldWillysForum.com too…
Since it already looks like a factory extension, you could continue the original theme and turn some heads. But, if you do the resto mod thing, it already isnt stock so you wouldnt be breaking up a stock vehicle and the modern stuff would allow for highway driving. You may also consider future resale value between the two options as well as what your kids might like or be able to maintain later.
I wood like to know if it still 4 sail
Ray,
It’s marked sold, so it’s no longer available.
Thanks,
– Dave
