Ann has suggested we leave the paint job as is for now and call it “Rusty.” Sounds good to me.
More pics.
- I noticed a piece of angle iron hanging underneath and asked Robin to look at it. He’d never seen anything quite like that, but said it was installed nicely. Still, he wasn’t sure what it was there.
This is taken from the underneath.
Looks like a custom tank was installed on the wheel well. I’ll need to see if the tank even exists anymore given the steel underneath. Looks like something custom was added to the back. At the lower right you can just see one of the convertible top tabs.
The most significant rust was in the passenger floor corner. Probably will have to patch the floor (carefully), replace the hat channel, and repair the step.
Surrey? Column shift, 2wd, no tailgate…..
No. It was built prior to the introduction of Galas/Surreys in 1959. This is the convertible model (wish it had the top – very hard to find one with its top).
I hope to check out this little gem when heading back from my trip
Keep us posted Chris.
Grrr … this one looks so tempting. I usually really good at ignoring ones like this. I’d hate to see it sold and modified. ….
