“’47 Willys CJ2A for sale. Restored by the previous owner, this Jeep is a nice little runabout with some flair. I bought it from a Navy man who painted it in the livery of the ship on which he served and used it at one of their reunions for rides and a photo shoot. If you are not into naval history, the markings are all vinyl and could be peeled off. The frame was stripped and blasted, then treated with a preservative paint for auto frames. The fiberglass body is, of course, impervious to rust, but the tailgate and grill are original. The Jeep has a newer BesTop, made in the USA. The tires were new Firestones installed with the resto and now have less than 600 miles on them.
This CJ 2A has skid plates under the oil pan and tranny, and a brush guard protecting the front prop shaft. The previous owner put a hitch receiver on the rear and wired a plug for trailer hookup. The electrical system is 12V with a sturdy mount for the alternator. Ignition is still the original points and condenser type. Now, even with the restoration, this little truck rides like a suspension from 70 years ago. If you are looking for a comfortable daily driver, this ones not for you. It has seat belts, but that’s about it for modern amenities. Steering is pretty tight, but the original-style drum brakes operate best with some anticipation of your stopping requirements. Don’t expect to cruise at more than 40 or so with this nicely overhauled L134 4-banger. It no longer has the old oil bath air filter, but runs on a nice little round paper filter. It also has a newer style, high capacity radiator so runs nice and cool, even in the summer heat. 4 wheel drive, of course, with 4 wheel Hi and Lo range.
If the prospective buyer is interested I also have the towing attachment that connects to the front bumper to transport this jeep by towing. Price negotiable.”
What’s the windshield from?
It’s an aftermarket windshield. I’ve seen a few others.
