1960 FC-170 Chicago, IL **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Lots of photos on eBay. This looks good from a distance, but the close up photos show it’s not so nice as it first appears. Along the front there are bubbles underneath the paint for example. The windshield wipers could use polish (for the price they are asking).

I’ve included part of the text of the ad, because there’s a lot and it’s a bit over the top. For example, “As we climb into the cab of this cumbersome conundrum, we quickly realize that the restoration wasn’t just an exterior one. Sliding into the newly restored leather seats is a pleasant experience, as your eyes can’t help but take in the view across the span of this giant windshield. Of course the lack-of-hood also helps increase your viewing experience, and also makes maneuvering this rig just a little easier (mind you, we’re test driving down one of the busiest streets in Chicago..). Grip the oversized steering wheel, wiggle the 3 speed gear shifter to make sure she’s in neutral, and take stock of this wonderfully done interior! So basic and raw, yet something about it makes you feel like a kid on Chirstmas, trying to wipe that goofy grin off your face for a good 5 minutes before you realize it’s actually yours to play with.”

What a CRAP paint job, mistake #1; using lacquer paint, surprised you could even buy it! If you like “Orange Peel, this is the vehicle for you… Mistake #2; trying to cover up mistake #1 by making the description too long and wordy. OK, so some of you are saying, “give this guy a break” How about some words of wisdom instead, with that price, You’re out of your mind…I’ve done better paint jobs on a cold day in December in NJ, in my driveway.

Dan Barding used to own that truck out of down state Illinois. He had some medical issues and had to sell all of his Jeeps. Guess this is who bought it with the intention of flipping it for some serious bucks.

I have been searching to buy an FC for a couple of months and it seems like there are a few priced around the 20k mark that look a little more polished than this one. Kinda worrying me that I will get priced out of buying one, I guess there are some guys out there with deep pockets that can pony up that much.

One on bring a trailer just went for over 30. It was nicer, but still had some flaws. He did a good job of representing it in the pictures. Can’t blame him for asking it. Has anyone called to talk to this guy? Doesn’t hurt to offer less, who knows?

Yes Steve, we are all getting priced out of the market, been saying this for years. Dealers are not interested in preserving classic vehicles, their only interest is in making as much money as they can. Greed is NOT good.

Does anyone have a way to reach Dan Barding. I purchased this fc from the dealer in Chicago. Would love to talk to Dan about the truck as the dealer doesn’t know much. Thanks!
