“1947 Willys Overland “Jeep” 2-wheel drive station wagon model 4-63
In late 1946 Jeep introduced the first all steel body station wagon, supposedly because of the advances in steel manufacturing and rolling perfected during WWII. Before that time all station wagons were “woodies”, with wooden side panels. I purchased this Jeep in 1972, with 52,000 miles on the odometer, in San Francisco from the original owner, a taxi cab driver who only drove it on vacation. It then became a semi – daily driver until about 19 years ago where it retired in my driveway due to insurance costs and a growing family. I have changed the oil and started the Jeep periodically, however the carburetor needs some work. It runs if gas is dribbled into the carburetor.

Included with the Jeep are these special items:
– the original title from 1947,
– the original owner’s manual
– the original special instructions for operating the Willys installed radio (rare option)
– the original “Owner Service Policy” from Willys Overland
– original jack, tool kit, and hand tire pump
– original spare tire & rim, 4 hub caps, and beauty rings

The mechanicals are all original (most being rebuilt) with the exception of:
– after market fuel pump (original in spares box included with purchase)
– a later model Jeep F head distributor (original in spares box included with purchase)
– brake cylinders
– there is Ford carburetor installed (original in spares box included with purchase)
– There are Ford passenger car rims on vehicle (originals not available)
– original oil bath air cleaner not available

Features:
– odometer reads 88, 561 miles (actual miles is probably 500-750 miles higher)
– the motor is a 134 Cu. In. (2199.53 cc.) L head 4 cylinder, which has been rebuilt twice, with less than 3000 miles on the last rebuild.
– the transmission is a Borg Warner 3 speed with an electrically operated overdrive unit (overdrive available over 23 mph, thus allowing for 2nd and 3rd gear overdrive). The transmission and overdrive unit was completely rebuilt with new bearings and synchronizers (boxed originals in spares box included with purchase).
– extra leaves we added to rear leaf and front transverse mounted leaf springs, leaving the originals in place
– the rear differential is a Timken (5.31 ratio), and has had all the bearing replaced (boxed originals in spares box included with purchase)
– there are new tie rods, king pins, and front wheel bearings
– brakes were rebuilt
– there is a heater installed that was salvaged from donor Jeep
– all seat covers, floor oak strips, and interior side panels are original
– doors, rear tail gate, windows, locks, door handles, seats, gauges, lights, etc. are operational.
-there is surface rust, with very little deep rust. The body metal is very thick and can be sanded. With the exception of a single dent in the right rear side and rust on the bottom of driver’s door, the body is in good condition
– receipts for repairs from 1972 onward are available and will be included
– 4 boxes of spare parts, those removed from the Jeep, and others that were obtained from donor Jeep (dash panel with gauges, knobs, head light switch, etc.) included”
