ORIGINAL POST: “I have to remove unregistered 1975 DJ-5 with no license plates from my property by Nov. 5, 2015 or be fined by my city. Today is Oct. 29. (I never knew there was such a requirement.) This vehicle was once registered to me and was running, but has not been started in years. There is some rust, but does not look nearly as bad as some pictures I have seen for sale. I have lost the registration card as well as title. I live in NJ. I do not want to call the junkman to take it away. My question is: would you know anyone who would want this jeep and could take it before November 5? Getting the title could take some weeks, but I have to remove vehicle before Nov. 5. If someone wants to own it,I would have to have the price of getting the title, (which I believe is $60 inNew Jersey) plus any money they might care to offer.
I wonder if “Mike” in NJ would be interested. He’s a frequent commenter here. I’d certainly check it out if I still lived back there. Hope it finds a good home… and not the junk yard.

The DJ is now in my garage here in Ridgefield CT. Jackie was very nice and helpful (she helped me get it in the trailer). We found the 2002 registration tucked up in the visor and she’s going to get the title for me. The bonus is that it’s a rare left hand drive, AMC 232, 727 Torkflight. Also included 4 brand new spring packs, disc brake setup (discs, Timken bearings/races, calipers, pads, lines) new master, new carb, new starter, new alternator and a bunch of other parts new in their boxes. I’m debating on which way to go with this but it’s a ‘project’ vehicle. It may take 5-6 hours to make it run and another 8-10 hours to make it safe. If anyone has a line on a DJ-5D radiator I’d be grateful because that’s the only major thing needed. That’s all I appear to be missing. I’d be happy to upload pics….Pete

That’s great news! I’m glad to hear it worked out so well. I figured you were more likely to find a rust bucket held together out of habit. You just never know!

OK, she lives. Engine and tranny runs strong. I pulled the gas tank and rust and varnish are extreme. I’ll clean and Red Kote this week. Sender is shot.
The springs (that came free with it) will happen next week.
I need to get about $350.00 in parts and this DJ should be road worthy. Caliper brackets and pads for the front disc conversion as well as ball joints.
