Talked to the owner and than sold my truck with in 24 hours to pay for the M38. The guy sold the M38 with in that time too… but the guy who bought it had fuel pump problems and brought it back and than was being a jerk so the original owner gave him his money back and told him to get out of his garage haha. Im 4 hours away from him (one way). He said he would hold it tell sunday. As long as its close to what he described it as I am buying.
Do you guys see any thing I should watch out for?

I love this site by the way, I have spent way to many hours on here

Well, if he’s promising it runs, drives and stops, then I’d hold him to that and test the jeep. Look underneath at the hat channels to see if or how much rust there is.

It looks like an extra tank in the rear. And, it is missing the handle over the original gas tank.

So those are some things you might consider. Glad you enjoy the site!

Thanks Dave. The guy told me the extra tank is functional and he thinks the original owner went on a couple thousand mile trips in the jeep several times back in the 70’s and wanted to make sure he had enough fuel. I will give you guys an update on it when I get it home.

I bought it, it wasn’t as nice as I thought it was but it was still nice overall. Engine runs strong, tool box was in great condition (and had a manual, chains and random old tools in it). The dash is a odd but fixable. The hat channels had a 1/8″ hole where it rusted through on each. The extra tank came in handy for sure, other than filling it up. Drove 7-8 hours on the rear tank. And it came with lots of wheels and tires not shown. 3 new NDT tires and one used NDT spare with a wheel, 4 German tires that are kinda like a deuce and a half Michelin military tire that were on white steel wheels and 4 black steel wheels. Wouldn’t mind selling some of these tires if some one is close
