Here’s an interesting sign. Bidding is already at $360. It is over 3′ wide.
“I believe this sign is from the 60’s, but I’m not totally sure. It’s plexiglass, and I’m pretty sure it’s intended to be back-lit. It measures 13″x39″. The last couple pictures show it in front of a window, back-lit. Condition as shown. Free shipping in the US only.”
I had one of these. Seems like this is ONLY the plastic portion of what was originally a lighted window sign which blinked Red, White and Blue. Mine came out of an old Willys Dealership in Rangeley Maine and was probably late 50’s vintage showing the CJ5 and FC Models. It is probably one of the nicest Willys signs out there if complete. For years there was also one hanging at the Ford Dealer in Montpelier, VT which sold Willys previously. Shipping is going to be a problem as this plastic piece without its steel enclosure is VERY fragile. I sold mine at Hershey in the late 90’s when my uninsured quonset building collapsed under snow load, and this little piece really helped to build it back.
Glenn is correct- This is only the plexiglas front of the sign. The rear portion is a steel box with florescent light tubes. Some of these did blink in colors. My buddy Jim here in Phoenix has one hanging in his garage that he brought back from Pennsylvania about 10 years or more ago. Neat sign, I would love to have a complete one!
