Doesn’t run.
“This jeep was owned by an older gentleman who passed away before he got it finished. I did some work for his wife in exchange for it. I don’t know too much about it, but here goes:
He put a small block chevy in it, someone told me it’s a 350 but I don’t know for sure. It looks like he beefed up the front springs to carry the extra weight. It’s 4WD with a 4 spd. tranny. His wife told me it is a Muncie transmission. It has a transfer case with two shifter levers. I have never tried to start it cause the installation is not quite complete. Also the brakes aren’t hooked up.
It has new chrome rims and off road tires. He had the seats re-upholstered in leather. They are just sitting in there now, they are not fastened down.
I have all new glass for it, still in the packaging. There’s also window channel and some miscellaneous parts. I was hoping to restore this but I don’t think it will happen, so I just want to get rid of it. The price is $3,000. I actually have more than that in it but I just want to cut my losses.”
did any 1959 models come with the rounded wheel arches and the tailgate setup for the single taillight ? O.K. it might not be the correct ,original gate, but are quarter panels available with rounded wheel openings ? OR is this mostly not late fifties wagon ? here in the northeast this is worth the asking price as is , regardless of dob.
The dash is 46-49 with the ashtray above the instrument cluster, the tailgate is also early46-51 with the single tail light, however the side tail lights are after 1952. I would guess they were added on. I had a 51 back in the 70s that had the later tail lights also. The rear wheel wells are hard to say from the photo, but look early before 50 or later Parkway style minus the barn doors. Front sheet metal is after 1957.
Ahhhhh, the quintessential Willys salad.
thanks, Colin, for the rundown of years represented in this wagon. While I’m sure many felt a combination of parts made up this {not bad looking} wagon, I could not have gotten anywhere near as acurrate a read.
