UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500
(05/10/2014) The truck looks good. It is listed as being in Laguna Beach, but it is listed in the Reno Craigslist. Maybe the owner lives in Laguna, but the truck is located in the Reno area?
“1957 Jeep Willy’s flatbed truck. Excellent condition, original straight 6 cylinder engine. 3 speed. Runs great! I have had this Jeep for over twenty years and it’s always been dependable…loved it! If you are interested, please call (not email) “
I’m a little confused, too. Laguna Beach is in Orange County, just South of Los Angeles. The phone number is from Southshore (Lake Tahoe, CA, near the Nevada Border). I looked for a few minutes and I didn’t find a Laguna Beach at Southshore. But it looks like the photos were taken in South Tahoe. Maybe the selling is moving to Southern California?
I’m confused about the year, too. It’s a nice, solid Pickup with the signs of being a ’54 or ’55, the first years for a good old L6-226. (no grill vent as in a ’57, and it has a ’50 to ’56 dash, but that’s not a ’56 grill.) (not that the year matters, it’s a good solid truck.)
When Henry Kaiser took control of Willys-Overland around 1953, the best thing he did was to put an six cyl engine from his Kaiser sedan’s in the heavy trucks and wagons. It’s too bad he didn’t add a stronger transmission at the same time. Those T-90’s were originally designed for a 4 cyl. engines. The worst thing Old Henry did was to remove the W-O from the tailgate. (lol)
