David Silberman just picked up this two-owner CJ-5 w/ a Tuxedo Park III package. Looks like a great project. The color is Indian Ceramic, consistent with one of the Tuxedo Park options from 1961-1963. A post from 2012 post shows how this might have looked.
He notes:
1962 Tuxedo Park Mark III.
August, 1962, as per VIN.
Original paint, original tires, original radiator hoses and most clamps.
Chrome hood hinges, windshield stops. Even the tailgate chains are chrome.
The steps were chrome, but mostly gone by now.
The interesting part is the mileage. 21,000 miles. The owner got it from his uncle 50 years ago.
He added the hardtop and plow, but it wasn’t on the road since 1986.
Seats are black with “pink” sides, same as
the wheel well pads.
Here’s the photos David sent:
I hope he posts the “after” pictures… or even the restoration. Lots of cool original detail still showing and very restorable. Good Luck!
I couldn’t get the link to the 2012 post to work, however, Dave.
Nice indeed.
Also second the INOP link.
Thanks guys. Works now.
This sure looks like they did an imitation of the Surrey with regard to the paint scheme on this Jeep. Very interesting!
I have a 1962 white CJ-5 Tuxedo park which has not been on the road in 15-20 years. Very low mileage because it was used to put an 18 ft. boat in and out of big Bear Lake from a lakefront property. Seats reupholstered, roll bar put in, all other original equipment. Any idea of what this might sell for? Getting too old to run around in this baby. Been covered in my yard.
Hi David,
The overall condition plus whether it can still drive will be mitigating factors on the value, but a low mileage CJ-5 with a Tux Park package should generate some good interest if in great shape and drives. If you want to send me some pics to d@deilers.com, I’d be happy to give my opinion.
Thanks,
– Dave
