OK, I’m a greenhorn on these Willys. I know that this vehicle has been for sale for a long time. It looks pretty good to me, but everyone seems to see something I do not since it’s not being picked up. Can you fill me in?
Keith,
I haven’t looked at this jeep, but suggest you simply call the seller and take a look. I’ve bought 4 jeeps here in Arizona in worse shape than this and all were pretty much just sitting there without much response to their ad. I’ve also looked at a couple with other competitors there at the same time as me (which I didn’t buy). You never know until you take a look.
Sometimes a jeep sits there because the seller is hard to reach (won’t answer the phone). Sometimes there are issues to overcome like no title or mechanical/electric/other issues that scare away folks. If you want to email or call me directly, ask Dave (eWillys) for my contact info.
Keith,
In the case of this 3B, it’s had the dash replaced, swinging brakes/clutch pedals, and different gauges installed. Someone has replaced the original four cylinder motor with a Ford V8. The seller notes that he has new seats, but hasn’t installed them yet (so even though there are seats sitting in the jeep, they might not be bolted to anything). Overall, this appears to be a solid jeep with some good updates that still will need some work. The seller did not provide any photos of what changes were done to accommodate the new motor, so I’m unable to tell if it was a well done conversation or not. That will really take an in person inspection.
Based on all that, this might be a reasonable buy if you are mechanically inclined and don’t mind a jeep with some updates. If you want more of a stock jeep, then I’d avoid this one.
And, Joe is right. There can variety of reasons jeeps remain available that don’t reflect on the quality of the jeep.
If you have any additional questions or if you go look and have additional questions, feel free to email me directly d @ ewillys.com.
