Dan forwarded these two photos of a good looking San Francisco 49er-themed DJ-3A. I tried to find more info about it online, but couldn’t learn any more.

Just looking at the photos of this DJ3A, I can see definite Surrey equipment on it: front chrome bumper, valance panel, chrome full wheel covers, chrome hood latches, the “Special Order” tag directly below the serial number plate. Even though the windshield grab bars aren’t correct, the spacing for the holes looks about right. No tailgate. Looks like it has a rear bumper, but it appears to be too close to the body. No spare tire showing. Too bad I can’t read that serial number, but will keep trying.

What a shame to customize a Surrey if that truly is the case with this jeep. At least it is just paint and upholstery if one wanted to go back to stock.

the black/silver tag under SN plate is the paint/trim tag. The numbers off that tag would confirm exactly what it started with. the pink steering wheel might be a hint

Another clue to watch for, and I think Colin taught me this one, is two 45 degree screw holes about 3/4 inch apart near the top of both sides of the windshield frame. This is where the hooks for the windshield to fender straps attached. Of course they could be easily filled on repaint. Sure enough, when he told me about this, I ran right out to my Surrey Project and there they were. I also had a pattern to follow when I put straps on my Yellow Miss Willy DJ3A.
