When I first read this (admittedly I was watching football), I thought this Jeepster was only $2500. ‘Great deal,’ I thought as I quickly posted it. But then Paul read it more careful. This project is $10,000 and the FINDERS FEE is $2500!!

“Runs, once fuel pump is connected. body and interior is in great shape. VIN# 68878
asking $2500 for finders fee
owner is asking 10k
contact me if interested

Wait a minute… if you purchase this Jeepster you’ll have to pay a finders fee of $2,500 in addition to paying the seller $10,000?????

Yea whatever. its listed on craigslist so the clown that posted it wants 2500 bucks. good luck with that one.

In the past couple years when selling Jeeps numerous individuals have contacted me saying things like,” I know someone who would like that Jeep and will put you in contact with them for a $2,000 finders fee….” usually folks want $1500 to $2500…. I have no idea why they think they deserve that amount. That is more than even a 10% commission on a sale would be. Either way I always tell them to shove off which usually results in a string of angry emails from the shysters.

Not to defend shysters, but it’s a free market, and if someone can make a buck getting a buyer what he needs and a seller what he’s willing to pay: good for him/her. But why announce it? Just negotiate the price and keep your commission to yourself, like a car dealer would. For the shy, scared, lazy buyer or seller it probably takes a third person to make a deal happen.

This person who calls himself Charlie wasted my time telling me he was going to buy my porsche 911 from me. Not be be trusted. Beware.
