UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9000
(07/28/2013) This looks good.
“1953 M38A1 Willys-Overland 4×4 ¼ Ton Jeep
Very good condition; runs good; 25,650 miles.
Restored to vintage period condition using original, new old stock (NOS), or remanufactured new items.
New batteries, rebuilt carburetor, new tires, canvas top and side curtains, vintage parts and accessories.
Seats in good condition, shovel mounted under hood, 5 gallon gas can with spout, complete set of manuals.”
Not a 1953, this M38A1 has radiator support rods and no hinge on radiator.
I know the 1952 and early 1953 M-38A1s were made with the hinges, but weren’t the later 1953 (I don’t know how the exact month) M-38A1s made without the hinges?
Do you know which year the radiator supports added?
Thanks,
– Dave
Supposedly 1954 was the year the supports were added and the hinges replaced with the center bolt. However, that being said, were they designated by a calender year starting in January, or a fiscal year starting in October? If this one is stamped as delivered in October thru December 1953, then we may just have our answer.
