I’m sure there’s a story behind it, but I fear we’ll never know why a sailor was driving a CJ-3A and pulling a stage through a neighborhood.
“Original vintage snapshot photo, circa 1940s or 1950s. Sailor at the wheel of a Jeep, pulling a trailer that looks to be a stage – “When The Rains Came.” We do not have any details about the location of this photo. Some minor age toning, otherwise a nice image- as seen in scans. Measures about 2-3/8″ x 3.5″

That jeep looks great, looks brand new. It’s a shame there’s no clues as to where it is.
There was a 1939 movie with that name and a song with that name that might have been popular.
With the top brackets mounted on the side, this might be a CJ2A??
I see two pre 1949 car roof tops just ahead of the Jeep and sure looks like a ’46-47 Chevy grill just behind. Of course this doesn’t mean they couldn’t be a couple years old also.
Ohhh! I wish this could be a USN Willys CJ2A! It would be so cool to find more pics of civilian jeeps pressed into military service!!!!
