UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $13,950

I purchased this 1951 Willys CJ-3A from a Willys enthusiast in Prescott, Arizona. At the time, I planned to buy a cabin in Prescott and store it there, to enjoy on weekends. My plans changed, and the Willys is in my garage in Phoenix. I am not able to use it like I planned. I love the little thing and don’t have to sell it, but someone should own it who can use and enjoy it as these vehicles were meant to be used and enjoyed.

Here is the March, 2013 ad to which I responded:

“Selling my 1951 Willys Jeep CJ-3A with older body-off restoration prior to my purchase.

I have recently provided or done the following:
Fresh exterior paint.
Newly powder coated rims with black pinstripe
Five new tires and tubes on original, correct rims, spare never on the ground
New master cylinder
New battery

During my ownership I have:
Replaced the exhaust system with correct one
Rebuilt the transmission
Replaced and repaired the radiator with correct one
Replaced the air cleaner with correct one
Replaced the fuel tank

Everything works. Except for the color, 12V system (alternator) and non-original wiring harness, it is period correct and functions as it is supposed to. Color is “Frost White”, believed to be a GM color. I have part of a leftover quart.

I have owned it ten years. Always garaged. Hate to sell, but too many projects”

Since buying it on March 24, 2013, I have done the following:

1. Bought a windshield tie-down strap.
2. Bought and installed a rear cargo mat.
3. Bought and installed a correct, replacement front full floor mat.
4. Bought and installed an inside RV mirror.
5. Found and bought an original Willys jack & lug wrench!
6. Bought a replacement headlight switch knob.
7. Replaced the windshield.
8. Bought and installed Warn 20962 hubs, as old ones were almost impossible to turn and engage/disengage.
9. Spent $2,700 having extensive work done on it this summer 2014, including complete rebuild of steering box, stopped fluid leaks, replaced leaking brake line, fuel pump properly configured and leak stopped, oil hose and line replaced, new air horn, air cleaner hose and gasket replaced, bell crank bushings replaced and front end aligned.

Clean title in hand. No accidents known of. Odometer says 55,xxx miles, but I can’t imagine it hasn’t turned at least once, as it is 63 years old. The only thing the Willys needs is a correct wiper arm. The one on it is for decoration and not correct. The vacuum motor works perfectly. I have not replaced it because I would never drive my topless Jeep in the rain. It wouldn’t be that hard to change back to a 6-volt system, but I don’t know why anyone would do so when the 12-volt system is so superior. I don’t know this for sure, but believe it may have always been an Arizona Jeep. I was first titled in January, 1951, I believe in Arizona. It isn’t a perfect show Jeep, but it’s pretty close, and in top condition. The best part is that you can drive and enjoy it. It isn’t a flawless garage queen but turns heads everywhere I go. Every time I drive it, someone stops me to ask the year and tell me how their grandfather, father or uncle had one, it would go anywhere and do anything, etc. My grandfather bought a 1947 CJ-2A off the showroom in Rapid City, S.D., and used it to ranch buffalo and cattle.
