This rare game was listed earlier this month at a live auctioneers.com.  It didn’t sell.  I contacted the auction company and was told the consigner isn’t sure whether they will list it again or not.  You can also learn more about the Jeep Board at the CJ-3B Page.

“Rare first edition the only one I can find is in a museum The Jeep board a second World War period board game produced by the George S Carrington Company of Chicago Illinois usa in 1943 The game is complete with its original components comprising box rulebook and pegs”

Cool! Can you see any reason it’s called a Jeep Board other than it’s a marketing effort? Any references to jeep in the instruction manual for example?

I just acquired an identical set, unused as far as I can tell. The box is in better shape. I got it at an estate auction sale yesterday. The previous owner was a life long collector of many different things and was in his nineties. This game was meant for use by the military who might find themselves in cramped spaces according to the info on the instruction booklet. The ribbon was intended to tie the game board to a leg. I just looked it up and find the vehicle Jeep was first produced in 1941. This game was produced in 1943…I guess the connection is that the game could be played by individuals travelling in Jeeps or other cramped spaces.

Thanks for the additional information and congrats on finding a game in great shape!

The first standardized jeep was officially produced in late 1941. However, there were jeep prototypes built by American Bantam (who officially built the first jeep), Willys Overland, and Ford prior to the standardized jeep. Bantam, considered the originator of the jeep, completed the first jeep, the Bantam BRC, in September of 1940. You can view examples of Bantam’s three different models here:
