Ann and I drove to Spokane last Thursday for a doc appointment, then returned via the Idaho panhandle. We made it as far east as Fernwood, Idaho, a small town in the mountains to visit Ann’s relatives, before heading south to Moscow and back. While in Fernwood, we ran across a couple jeeps. So, we took photographs.
Here’s a photograph of us at the barn built by my great grandfather at Fighting Creek. This will mean something to those that have read my book. The barn is 100 years old, but still looks good (from this angle anyway).
Here’s an old plow jeep we spotted. We also spotted a jeep across the street, but it was too far back to photograph.
This was located in the town of Santa, Idaho, at the bridge.

Craig: Fighting Creek (named for the Creek) was the name my great grandparents gave their store/gas station that was located on their property along US 95 about fifteen minutes south of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. The family sold the property in the late 1980s.
And the new guys dropped the “G’ in Fighting, right? I thought they were both on the same property that had been in your family. Next time I’ll order the book on tape.
Yes, new owners dropped the “G”, which my mom and aunt weren’t thrilled about.
Yes, the store and farm were originally on the same property, but were separated at the time the store was sold. The store obtained it’s own parcel along the road, while the remainder of the farm was intact. The new store appears to have used additional property from the farm, being placed upon part of an old field that was also adjacent to the road.
