Good Reminder Be Careful! Watch for SCAMS!
100% to me this ad was fake, it’ was posted on Craigslist out of Brooklyn, NY but it’s in the incorrect area of the site for Jeeps / Willys and vehicles in general.
The photos and description shared are from a different site where the rig was for sale for double the price
1952 Willys M38A1 – $12,000
1952 Willys M38 Military Jeep. Fully Restored, museum quality, no rust, always garage kept. This Jeep served in Korea. Lots of fun to drive, starts right up. Everything works, Horn, fuel gauge, wipers, lights, all gauges, everything.
Too good to be true it probably is…. it is a nice looking Willys.
Anyone would be happy to drop 12k on this beauty and perhaps get in a hurry about it
lest it get away, therein lies the problem.
I had a suspicion this may have been a scam when I saw it hit Craigslist
Hello,I’m glad you’re interested in the 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport. The car is in perfect working condition, garage kept, no mechanical problems whatsoever. It has low miles (41k), 4.0L V6- gasoline engine, runs smooth and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. The interior is like new. All regular maintenance was performed at an authorized garage. It will come with a clean and clear title under my name free from any loans or liens. If you decide to buy it, you’ll receive all the papers(including a clear title), owner’s manual, keys and a notarized buy-sell contract already signed by me. The price was reduced at $1500 because I’m in a hurry to find a buyer. This car was used by my husband who died 4 month ago. My daughter and I travel a lot with our business and we want to make this deal through eBay Motors (Buyer Protection Program). Hate to sell it but neither I nor my daughter use this car and every time we see it we have memories..If interested please include in your next email your contact info for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so I can notify eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer, and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure. Thanks and God bless your family
It appears to be a phishing scam looks too good of a deal for sure where you provide all your info and eBay Motors will maybe contact you.
I highly doubt eBay Motors will be calling anytime soon, not really how that works. With as much detail as they wrote they could have just posted it on eBay.
even willysforsale.com has scammers. have talked with several possible owners who sound like real owners only to find out they are scammers. they tell you on that sight never to buy anything without first looking at it. i’m warning everybody BE CAREFUL! these dirt balls are getting better and better at sounding real.
if you buy something off ewillys or anywhere, cover your ass. do not exchange money unless your driver picking up the jeep can pay upon seeing and loading up jeep.
I wonder if some of the “buyers” here are legit?
Some just ask if it’s still available with no other questions or comments. That’s usually a tip off for the “I’ll send extra money for shipping, you send me back the extra” scam…or the ever popular phony cashier’s check scam.
Come on, would a real Jeep fan not take the opportunity to ask any detailed questions?
I’ll wager 70-80% of the comments here from people with seemingly limited reading comprehension skills (i.e. they can’t figure out ewillys is NOT THE SELLER) are foreign scammers.
It happens all the time, especially on FB. Getting pretty easy to spot though. Usually when it’s too good too be true and the comments have been turned off. Also when you can’t seem to talk to an actual person chances are good it’s a scam. Another good way to spot a scam is if you’re scrolling through the listed pictures and you come across a bunch of your stuff!!! Dead Ringer
