Quite possibly the nicest wagon it will ever find for sale.
Runs great. Chevy 350 w/ Holley Sniper fuel injection. GM 700R4 4speed Transmission. Dual reservoir brake system w/ front disc brakes. Dana 44 rear axle w/ large breaks. Extra large fuel tank. Front bucket seats. Bluetooth stereo with overhead sound bar. Four-wheel-drive with low range. Original speedometer works and is accurate but bounces a little at low speed.

I have all the Chrome trim for it, if you like that look.

Daily driver. Gets a lot of attention

This is an overall well built good looking build with one exception, the 1/4 panel rear well wheel opening, those extensions stick out like a sore thumb. Not being critical, just an honest opinion, with all the time, effort & money, I think blending then into the body would have given the wagon a better custom look.

    Mike in MJ…
I have to disagree with you. The rear wheel openings match the front flat fenders.
The extensions give more room for modern all terrain tires, probably a good idea in Montana for a daily driver. This isn’t a show truck.
Curved rear openings, flaring them in, would look like the designer of the back wasn’t on the same page as the front designer. They would he out of place, or worse, they may come out looking like a wide body Porsche or done with heaps of bondo.

Looks to me like they cut the rust out, then used those thangs to cover or replace the lost (original) body lines.

    Hack Shaw,
Yes I agree, my thoughts exactly, all that nice work, then a “Quicky short cut”.

  5. JohnB

I agree, $40,000 is a lot of money and at that price is better be nice.
But remember, $40,000 isn’t what it used to be. 🙂

Dat’s true John B. Dat’s cuz there are twice as many politicians & Gubmint departments than there used ta be. As long as there’s more money than brains in the marketplace, shoot fer da moon.

I wasn’t referring to collectable cars specifically (though my comment applies to them), rather I was referring to the prices of NEW and USED vehicles.
Examples: 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser, good original condition with 171,000 miles sold in November for $48,000. A similar original 1990 Land Cruiser with 207,000 sold for $20,000.
up here in the Northwest, old driver quality pickups with 200-300,000 miles routinely sell for $10-15,000.
The prices of new cars has doubled in what… the last 15-20 years?
So the prices you’re complaining about aren’t some rich drunks at a TV auction, it’s the new reality.

LC’s are not comparable to an old Willys Wagon.

Of course things are more expensive, but car/truck prices have softened significantly from a few years ago.

IMO, asking price on this is pushing double what it’s worth.

I wasn’t directly comparing a 35 year old LC to 75 year old Jeeps, just trying to illustrate today’s market.
It wasn’t THAT long ago if you said a run of the mill, 35 yo truck with 200k miles would sell for its new car price, they’d have locked you up. 🙂
