“Offered here for sale is most probably the nicest, most original 1978 Jeep CJ7 there is.  What is seen in the photographs is all original except for tires and steps.  Body, paint wheels, all the chrome and the Warn #8274, 8,000 pound electric winch are all original.  There is no detectable rust on/in the body.  Inside, the originality continues with seats, dashboard, floor lining and mats.  It has a four speed transmission with extremely low first gear.  It has 57,413 original miles on it.  The engine is the original 258 cubic inch 6 cylinder Jeep motor.

This Jeep has been a “show” Jeep and “garage queen” almost all its life.  I’m the third owner as far as I know.  The previous owner never had it off pavement.  I’ve had it off pavement three times, gently.  Flawless performance.  It has never been allowed to be stored out of doors.  Always garaged.

What is not original is mostly unseen.  Following is work accomplished in 2021 by a very reputable Vintage Jeep repair/restoration shop in LaPorte, Colorado.

  • Suspension replaced with 2.5 inch lift. Disassembled suspension and installed new springs, U-bolts shocks and brake lines and shackles. Installed transfer case drop kit.
  • Installed new Rancho shocks.
  • Installed left and right exterior steps.
  • Brakes bled and found master cylinder leaking. Replaced master cylinder. Adjusted toe and steering stops.
  • Front axle disassembled and differential removed; inner axle seals and axle u-joints replaced.
  • Hub bearings repacked and new hub seals installed.
  • Bearing pre-load set.
  • Installed new brake pads.
  • Rear brake drums removed and de-glazed. All parts cleaned and re-assembled with new brake shoes.
  • Set rear pinion angle.
  • Installed new HEI distributor, plugs and wires. Removed ignition control module and cleaned up un-needed wiring.
  • Removed intake and exhaust manifolds. Cleaned and inspected. Reassembled with new gaskets. Also replaced faulty egr valve.
  • Original carburetor removed, rebuilt and reinstalled.
  • New transmission and transfer case seals installed.
  • All gear boxes serviced.

There may be more, but this is what I have invoices for and what I can remember.  This used vehicle is in very good condition, but is sold “as is.”  No warranty expressed or implied.”
